Why Posting More Content Isn’t the Answer: The Organic Content Funnel We Use at Cove Studios
A lot of businesses know they need to post on social media.
So they hire somebody to make videos, post a few Reels every week, and hope one of them takes off.
And yeah, sometimes that works.
But realistically, getting views isn't the same thing as getting customers.
At Cove Studios, we don't just show up, shoot a bunch of random videos, and call it a content strategy. We build our clients' content around an organic content funnel designed to do three things:
Get attention. Build trust. Create action.
Here's how it works.
Step 1: Top of Funnel: Get People to Stop Scrolling
The first part of the funnel is simple.
We need attention.
These are the videos designed for people who probably have no idea who you are yet.
That means we're usually not trying to sell them anything right away.
Instead, we create content that's entertaining, interesting, relatable, educational, or just visually satisfying enough to make somebody stop scrolling.
Depending on the business, that could be:
A crazy before and after
Behind the scenes footage
A satisfying transformation
A funny or relatable video
A strong opinion about the industry
A quick tip people actually care about
Cinematic footage of the work being done
The goal here isn't necessarily to get somebody to book immediately.
It's to get them through the door.
If someone watches your video, visits your profile, or starts recognizing your business every time you pop up on their feed, the content is doing its job.
Now we need to give them a reason to trust you.
Step 2: Middle of Funnel: Show Them Why You're the Right Choice
This is where a lot of businesses mess up.
They either post nothing but entertaining content…
Or every single post is:
“CALL US TODAY!”
There's gotta be something in between.
Middle of funnel content is where we start answering the questions somebody might have before they actually become a customer.
Why should I trust these guys?
Do they actually know what they're doing?
What makes them different?
What does the process look like?
That's where we start creating things like educational videos, project breakdowns, behind the scenes explanations, FAQs, testimonials, case studies, and videos showing how the business actually operates.
For example, let's say we're creating content for a painting company.
A top of funnel video might just be an insane before and after transformation.
But the next video could explain why proper prep work matters before painting a house.
Now you're not just showing somebody that you can paint.
You're showing them that you actually know what you're doing.
That's a completely different type of content.
And that's where trust starts getting built.
Step 3: Bottom of Funnel: Give Them a Reason to Take Action
Eventually, we have to ask for the business.
Bottom of funnel content is made for the person who's already interested.
They've seen your work.
They understand what you do.
They might've watched five of your videos already.
Now we want to make taking the next step as easy as possible.
This is where we'll use stronger calls to action, offers, testimonials, availability posts, service specific videos, and direct response style content.
Something as simple as:
“If you've been thinking about getting your house painted, click the link below and get a free estimate.”
Nothing crazy.
We're just giving somebody who's already interested a clear next step.
Why We Don't Judge Every Video by Views
This is probably one of the biggest things I explain to clients.
Not every video needs to go viral.
If we post an entertaining video and it gets 50,000 views, that's awesome.
But if we post a testimonial that gets 600 views and one of those people becomes a $5,000 customer…
Which video was actually more valuable?
Exactly.
That's why when we're building a social media content strategy for a business, we don't look at every video the same way.
Different videos have different jobs.
Some are there to reach people.
Some are there to build credibility.
Some are there to convert.
You need all three.
What This Actually Looks Like Month to Month
When we plan content for our clients, we're not showing up on shoot day asking:
“So… what do you wanna film?”
We want to know what the business needs.
Maybe you need more awareness.
Maybe people are finding you but don't understand why you're different.
Maybe you've already built an audience and need stronger offers to actually turn that attention into leads.
That's what determines what we shoot.
From there, we create a mix of content across the funnel so your page doesn't feel like one giant advertisement.
Someone should be able to discover your business from one video, binge a few more, understand exactly what you do, trust you, and know how to contact you.
That's the funnel.
Content Should Have a Purpose
Businesses don't need more random content.
They need content that actually has a job.
That's the approach we take at Cove Studios.
We combine professional video production with an actual organic content strategy so businesses aren't just posting for the sake of posting.
Whether you're a contractor, service business, real estate professional, local brand, or another Arizona business trying to grow through social media, the goal stays pretty much the same:
Get their attention. Earn their trust. Give them a reason to act.
And then do it consistently.
